Sweetgrass Braids

Sweetgrass (Hierochloe odorata) is an ancient healing medicine of the Sioux and Cree indigenous people, symbolising healing, peace, strength, and community (one strand is easily broken, but weaved together like a community, the braid is strong).

Sourced from the northern prairies, these sweetgrass braids form an important part of daily prayer and ritual. Smudging with this beautifully aromatic sweetgrass is said to purify and carry prayers afar. Sweetgrass is used with intention, commonly with other herbs, and often with or after smudging with sage – some teachings suggest sage clears negativity while sweetgrass attracts positivity, creating a balanced flow of energy.

Each braid is approximately 35-40cm in length.
